If you are a senior HVAC Project Manager who is ready to step away from running one job at a time and move into true operations leadership, this is a rare opportunity.
Our client is a highly respected Queensland HVAC contractor delivering complex commercial and industrial air conditioning projects across the region. As they continue to grow, they are seeking to appoint an Operations Manager to take ownership of how projects are delivered, how clients are looked after, and how the business operates at scale.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You will be front-facing with clients, actively supporting Project Managers, and stepping into sites and projects whenever required to ensure delivery excellence and first-class client experience. This is not a project role.
This is a senior operational leadership role with strong client ownership.
You will take responsibility for:
- How all HVAC projects are delivered
- How clients experience the full scope of service delivery
- How Project Managers and site teams are supported
- How labour and resources are deployed
- How financial performance and claims are controlled

If you are currently a Senior Project Manager or Project Manager in a Tier-1 or major HVAC contractor, or in an operational role within a Tier 2 you already know the real risks in projects are not technical, they are planning, communication, resourcing and commercial control.
This role allows you to step above individual jobs and:

- Ensure projects are properly resourced
- Control how financial performance is tracked
- Protect client relationships
- Lift the performance of every PM and project
What you will be responsible for
Client & Project Delivery
- Being a senior point of contact for key clients
- Ensuring client expectations are met on every project
- Supporting Project Managers in managing relationships and issues
- Stepping in early to resolve concerns before they escalate
- Maintaining the company’s reputation for quality and reliability
- Ensuring HVAC projects are delivered consistently and profitably
- Reviewing project progress, risk and margins
- Managing and validating progress claims
- Overseeing cost-to-complete and revenue forecasting
- Implementing strong project reporting and controls
- Leading, mentoring and supporting Project Managers
- Managing labour forecasting and weekly allocation
- Running construction and delivery meetings
- Managing the Project Administration Manager
- Recruiting, onboarding and developing project staff
- Being visible on projects when required
- Visiting sites, supporting PMs and resolving issues
- Leading from the front when delivery or clients need support
This role requires real HVAC industry experience
This is not a general construction role.
You must have:
- Trade Background or Bachelor Degree
- Strong commercial HVAC project experience
- A background in air conditioning delivery, not just office management
- Experience managing claims, variations, subcontractors and labour
- Local Brisbane / SEQ HVAC market experience
- The credibility to walk onto site and be respected by clients and project teams
